HUNGARIAN LANGUAGE AND CULTURE SUMMER COURSE

60 class units, 6 ECTS credits
The 2-week intensive course is for students who want to start learning Hungarian for any specific reason in Hungary. The courses focus heavily on speaking and communication skills: the morning consists of 4 lessons, while the afternoon consists of 2 lessons. In addition students can choose extra optional modules such as phonetics or Hungarian folklore or Hungarian cuisine. These lessons provide the opportunity to learn the local culture and customs as well. The classes stress the use of language in everyday situations. In 6 lessons each day, focusing on the 4 major skills: reading, writing, speaking and listening. Textbooks and a variety of other materials are used in instruction, including role-playing, newspapers, magazines and other materials. The language classes are complemented with a special collection of cultural events to provide students with knowledge and experience concerning Hungarian customs and traditions. Cultural events include film showing, folk singing and dancing, quizzes, gastronomical specialities as well as full-day trips to historic places on Saturday.
