HUNGARIAN LANGUAGE AND CULTURE SUMMER COURSE

60 class units, 6 ECTS credits

The 2-week intensive course is for students who want to start learning Hungarian for any specific reason in Hungary. The courses focus heavily on speaking and communication skills: the morning consists of 4 lessons, while the afternoon consists of 2 lessons. In addition students can choose extra optional modules such as phonetics or Hungarian folklore or Hungarian cuisine. These lessons provide the opportunity to learn the local culture and customs as well. The classes stress the use of language in everyday situations. In 6 lessons each day, focusing on the 4 major skills: reading, writing, speaking and listening. Textbooks and a variety of other materials are used in instruction, including role-playing, newspapers, magazines and other materials. The language classes are complemented with a special collection of cultural events to provide students with knowledge and experience concerning Hungarian customs and traditions. Cultural events include film showing, folk singing and dancing, quizzes, gastronomical specialities as well as full-day trips to historic places on Saturday.

The school's excellent location and its long tradition in teaching Hungarian language and culture make it an ideal place to get acquainted with this unique country in Central Europe. The School is in strong co

•operation with the University of Debrecen which provides a wonderful background to this international event. The School has all facilities needed for study and recreation during the courses including free internet access, a library and a meeting place for students. The classes are conducted by a few dozen experienced teachers while the cultural events organized for about 200 students are provided by special artists and experts.

Terms & Conditions: Debrecen Summer School

- Services must be paid in full 7 days before the course starts in order to complete the enrolment and secure a place in the course and/or accommodation.
- Bank charges are payable by students
- Students must be 16 years of age or over

Cancellation policy

- The cancellation needs to be communicated in writing to the school by the person who booked the course.
- The registration fee is non-refundable.
- There is no refund for any cancellation once the course has commenced.
- After a course has started there is no refund for any accommodation or other item booked.
- No tuition refunds are given for late arrivals, early departures or absences, for whatever reason, from classes during any course.

Refund policy

- 1- No refunds whatsoever are given for cancellations.


Visa refusal

- 1- No refunds whatsoever are given for Visa refusal.


Other terms

• If the number of applicants is not sufficient on the application deadline (minimum 4 and 6 for language and thematic courses, respectively), the course will only be launched if participants are willing to pay a proportional share of the anticipated difference in costs. For information about the relevant fees, see the course descriptions at our website. Should the required number of participants still be there by starting date, payment for this deficit will not be implemented.


Cancellation and refund policy
• The registration fee is non-refundable. If you cancel your application not later than one week before the start of the course and have already paid the course fees we will refund your money, less the bank charges.
• If you cancel your application later than one week before the start of the course and have already paid the course fees, we can refund your money, less a 20% handling charge.
• If you leave the course prior to the departure date your tuition fee will not be refunded.
